Jon Gordon has done it again with "The Power of a Positive Team." He has taken his encouraging words of positivity, love, caring, and team work and bundled them into a book that speaks volumes. There are so many tidbits and words of wisdom that anyone who is a member of a team can benefit from reading. You say you aren't part of a team? What about your family, your work, your friends? We are all part of a team and this book is for you. Great team building books.
Some favorite parts:
"When you walk into the office, or the meeting, or into the school, hospital, or locker room, you have a decision to make. Are you going to be a germ to your team or a big dose of Vitamin C?"
"[Teams] give up because the obstacle seems more powerful than them and they don't have the faith to keep moving forward. But you don't have to give up. You don't have to let fear win. You can know that all things are possible to a team that believes."
Near the end of the book, Jon talks about the Greek word Meraki: to do something with love, soul, and creativity; to leave a piece of yourself in your work; to leave something behind. Thank you Jon Gordon for this piece of work and for your meraki.
This book is very well thought out and written. The flow is good and it is easy to read. The content is amazing. Whether you are a manager, a director, a team member, or any other position, this book is a must read. If every single person on any team ever read and applied the principles of this book, wow! So much could be accomplished! While that's not realistic, for those of us that have a part to play in building our teams, these are some great things to also look for and strive for in your team and hire people that will be this type of person and get rid of those who aren't. I highly recommend this book. Take the time to read it and then apply it. There's something in here to be learned, even for the best team members out there.
Turning the concept of "teaming" on its head, Mike has written a book that invites every member of every team, not just the leader, to engage in making the team successful. Through interesting history and accomplished story-telling, Mike brings the reader on a journey of the 6 "Be's" to individual and team success. He provides thoughtful questions and exercises that lead the reader deeper into her own behavior with call to measure its impact on others. Simple but poignant, this book is a quick but a must read. The workbook that accompanies it is also spot on and available as a self study guide. Perfect for each team member to have a copy and study as a team.
The You Are the Team Workbook (Self-Study Guide) was developed to help teammates apply and reinforce the important concepts from the book You Are the Team—6 Simple Ways Teammates Can Go from Good to Great.
This workbook that accompanies the above book.
Perfect for each team member to have a copy and study as a team.
I was asked by my manager to purchase this, for the Team Leads in our organization. So far the reviews have been very positive. Really easy to carry around and last but not least is the content, which I personally found really interesting and useful.
